RADIX Screw Piles Innovation Recognised With Leading Sustainability Awards Win

In a further boost for our goals supporting a net-zero future RADIX is delighted to have been named as the 2024 winner of an edie Award in the category ‘Product/Packaging Innovation of the Year’ for our RADIX Screw Piles and Ground Screws.

Radix is the 2024 winner of an edie Award in the category 'Product/Packaging Innovation of the Year' for our RADIX Screw Piles and Ground Screws.

Our low-impact, sustainable screw pile foundations were the star of the night at the Awards, which have been called the most prestigious sustainability recognition you can attain. The win is even more appreciated here at RADIX given the strength and truly innovative solutions offer by our fellow nominees products, from a seaweed based bio-plastic, a low-carbon cement solution and even a paper wine bottle.

The edie Awards are the largest UK award scheme for sustainable businesses now in their 17th year. They aim to reward and recognise individuals, projects and partnerships under the banner of ‘celebrating sustainability leadership’. With Lloyds Bank as partner and a host of sponsors, the edie Awards help give brands who are doing their bit some welcome exposure to build relationships, inspire stakeholders and accelerate sustainable growth.

What is the purpose of Screw Piles?

Building on the RADIX ground screw product range, our extendable screw piles allow the benefits of these foundations to be used on a whole additional category of build, installed to greater depths to maximise load bearing capacity.

Applications include a low impact foundation solution for the new Scottish Crannog Visitors Centre at Dalerb on the banks of Loch Tay, foundations for Battery Energy Storage Systems and Ground Mount Solar Farms to name a few where sustainability is of significant value.

Screw Piles Vs Concrete Foundations

Besides their eco-friendly credentials, and like their ground screw siblings, our screw piles additionally offer a faster, cleaner, and easier installation process year-round than concrete. Without the need for heavy excavation screw piles can be installed and ready to be built on immediately, saving time and accelerating project programme.

Validating our edie Award win, our screw piles have less than 50% embodied carbon (CO2e) than the equivalent in concrete, which is the second biggest contributor to global carbon emissions. Unlike concrete they are also easy to reuse and recycle adding another dimension to their versatility and eco-credentials.

It is a privilege for RADIX to be recognised by edie for our commitment to sustainability and a great honour to be announced as the 2024 winner for ‘Product/Packaging Innovation of the Year’. This is testament to the hard work of the team and ongoing commitment to product development at RADIX. We look forward to edie Awards 2025
