Faced with challenging ground conditions, RADIX worked in partnership with Foundation Technologies Australia (FTA) to create a robust, sustainable solution tailored to the site’s needs.

The screw pile system was chosen for its speed, adaptability, and environmental benefits—key in a project of this scale. Case Study: : Loxton Battery – Mass Energy Solar Construction

Client: Central Irrigation Trust
Location: Loxton, South Australia

RADIX delivered a responsive, technically-led service to engineer a high-performance screw pile foundation system tailored to challenging ground conditions. The solution included the design and installation of bespoke retaining structures—accommodating both cut-and-fill scenarios—and structural support for battery containers and transformers.

By adopting a screw pile methodology, significant programme gains were achieved. The system allowed for immediate load-bearing capacity, eliminating the delays typically associated with concrete curing. This enabled the project to progress without interruption to the construction sequence.

Complex subsurface conditions, including both known and unforeseen buried infrastructure, required on-site engineering intervention. Thanks to RADIX’s proactive site management and adaptable installation processes, these challenges were resolved without impacting delivery timelines.

Following RADIX’s appointment to provide services in the design and supply of Screw Pile Foundations for Australia’s SUPERNODE project, RADIX has signed a strategic 3-year exclusive partnership agreement with main contractor NuEnergy to provide consultancy, design, supply and delivery support with a focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Solar Farms across Australia.
