Sector:
Renewable Energy
Overview
Efficient, low-impact foundations and racking system for ground mounting solar panels
The ground conditions and exposed site located close to a railway line required a robust and secure solution for this 140-panel solar array. Ground screws provide significantly higher tensile capacity when coping with strong wind conditions.
Installation of ground screw foundations also kept noise at a low level with minimal disruption to the client and adjacent offices compared to using a traditional ramming system for ground mount systems.
Solution
A turnkey solution for ground mounting solar panels
The team completed a site survey and testing, verifying the suitability of ground conditions and tensile capacity and ensuring the correct specification of ground screws were installed to securely anchor the solar array and withstand the wind uplift forces the solar array is exposed to.
Ground Screw Foundations
We supplied and installed a range of our 1.2m and 1.5m RADIX PRO RF140 76mm Ground Screws that penetrated through the soft ground to meet the performance requirements of the project and securely anchor the racking system and solar array.
Solar Racking System
Streamlining the project in a turnkey solution, we supplied and installed the efficient and robust RADIX SolarTerrace racking system on our ground screw foundations, allowing Alba Heat & Power to begin mounting solar panels immediately and to programme.
The complete installation of ground screw foundations and the ground-mounted solar panel racking system was completed in three working days. RADIX can supply and install solar mounting systems for domestic and commercial solar farms.
