RADIX Visit to Datum Electronics Showcases Partnership Behind the RADIX 8000 PTM

RADIX has released a new video capturing Director of Sales & Client Relations Shane McGivern’s visit to Datum Electronics on the Isle of Wight, offering a detailed look at the partnership behind the RADIX 8000 Precision Torque Monitor.

The visit brought together RADIX and the Datum team responsible for developing and manufacturing the system. Shane met with Managing Director Michael Irons and members of the engineering and production departments to review the design, assembly and verification processes that underpin the unit.

The RADIX 8000 PTM is a fully wireless, precision-engineered torque monitoring system developed in collaboration with Datum Electronics and specifically designed for ground screws, screw piles and helical piles. Compact, lightweight and rated for demanding site environments, it delivers real-time torque verification and installation data to support quality assurance on site.

During the visit, the video captures the progression of each unit through the facility, from component assembly to final calibration. Particular attention is given to the controlled environments in which sensing elements are installed and the subsequent calibration stage, where each device is tested and validated prior to release. The process reflects the same emphasis on measurable performance and documented accuracy that RADIX applies across its wider foundation operations.

The system enables operators to receive live performance data directly to a smartphone or tablet, with torque readings logged automatically and exportable for reporting and compliance purposes. With a maximum torque rating of 8,000 Nm and a 1.5” square drive connection suited to handheld ground screw machines, it has been engineered specifically for practical deployment in the field.

The RADIX 8000 PTM builds on over 15 years of proven measurement technology from Datum Electronics. For RADIX, the collaboration represents a deliberate step in strengthening the traceability and verification of screw pile installations, ensuring that torque measurement is both accurate and consistently documented.

The newly published video provides a clear view of the people, processes and standards behind the product, reinforcing the engineering-led partnership that supports its development.
